2013 Law Enforcement Torch Run
Date: Friday, May 3rd
Time: 1:30 pm (Bike Ride) 2:05 pm (Walk & Run)
Torch Run Participant Cookout 4:00 pm (approx.)
Remember you can run, ride or walk as far as your little heart desires! No distance is to short or run to slow! We accommodate everyone!
This event is open to everyone, employees, family, friends, TCPAAA!
There are three opportunities to participate: RUN, BIKE, OR WALK!

BIKE – The bike segment is 13 miles long and begins at 1:30 pm. The ride starts at starts at COSTCO (Larkridge) – take 162nd Avenue west from Washington Street through the roundabout you’ll see us. Bikes can be dropped off at 12:45 pm (someone will be there to watch them). Take your cars to the PD – a shuttle will be leaving the PD at 1:15 pm to return you back to COSTCO. The ride leaves COSTCO and travels east on 162nd Avenue, south on Washington Street to 144th Avenue, East on 144th Ave. to Colorado Blvd., south on Colorado Blvd to Fire Station 5. Bikers will pass on the Torch to the walkers and runners (Group photo taken at this location) . The bikes continue on south on Colorado Blvd. with the SRO’s taking you on a scenic route through the bike paths of Thornton.

WALK – The walk starts at Fire Station #5 at approximately 2:05 pm., and is 2.2 miles long (shorter or longer – your choice). Walkers will be traveling south on Colorado Blvd. (sidewalk) to 120TH Avenue (Bradley’s parking lot). If you want to continue walking just head south on Colorado Blvd. All bikers, walkers, and runners will walk from the fire station to 136th Avenue, at which time will meet up with Broomfield PD, ACSO, and Commerce City PD who will transfer the Torch to us. Walkers, Bikers, and runners will take off from 136th Ave. Walkers and runners will have support van following for hydration, pick up, and transportation back to your cars. Carpooling to any of the venues is highly encouraged.

RUN - The run starts at Fire Station #5 at approximately 2:05 pm . The full run course is 7.5 miles long. (you don’t have to run that far, but some do!) Run as far as you can, get picked up by the support van- rest- run again- or ride to the PD – your choice!
Runners will walk from the fire station to 136th with the bikers and walkers to meet up for the Torch passing. The runners will be running south on Colorado Blvd in the right thru lane with police escort to 100th Avenue, west on 100th Ave. to Grant Street, south on Grant to Thornton Parkway, east to Civic Center Drive. Finish at the statue.
Runners will have a support van for hydration, rest, and transportation. There will a runner shuttle van leaving the front lot of the PD at 1:40 pm and taking you to fire station 5.

A cookout at the pavilion will commence at the conclusion of the run. Thanks to the Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
