Torch Run Participant Cookout 11:15 am (approx.) (Civic Center Pavilion)

Remember you can run, ride or walk as far as your little heart desires! No distance is to short or run to slow! We accommodate everyone!

This event is open to everyone, employees, family, friends, TCPAAA, city side employees, etc.!

There are three opportunities to participate: RUN, BIKE, OR WALK!  (Register at the online link below)

BIKE – The bike segment is 11.5 miles long and begins at 9:00 am. The bicycle ride begins at Fire Station 5, 14051 Colorado Blvd. Bikes can be dropped off at 8:15 am (someone will be there to watch them). Take your cars to the PD – a shuttle will be leaving the PD at 8:45 am to return you back to Fire Station 5. The ride leaves Fire Station 5, and travels south on Colorado Blvd to the Thornton Rec. Center. Bikers will pass on the Torch to the runners.  The bikes continue on with the SRO’s taking you on a scenic route through the bike paths of Thornton.

RUN The run starts at the Thornton Rec Center, 11151 Colorado Blvd. approximately 9:30 am. The full run course is 5 miles long. (You do not have to run that far, but some do!) Run as far as you can, be picked up by the support van- rest- run again- or ride to the PD – your choice! Runners will walk from the Rec Center to 108th Ave. with the bikers. The runners will be running south on Colorado Blvd in the right thru lane with police escort to 100th Avenue, west on 100thAve. to Grant Street, cross Grant to the bike path along Golden Coral/Sam’s Club and finish at the pavilion. Runners will have a support van for hydration, rest, and transportation. There will be a runner shuttle van leaving the front lot of the PD at 9:00 am and taking you to the Rec Center.

WALK – The walk starts at the Thornton Civic Center Lake, 9500 Civic Center Drive at approximately 10:00 am, and is timed event. Walkers will be traveling around the lake as many times as you can in 1 hour. So therefore, go at your own pace! There will be a water/hydration stop near the pavilion.

We will be taking our group photo at the pavilion at the conclusion of all the events.

A cookout at the pavilion will commence at the conclusion of the run. Thanks to the Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
